It's River Creek
LEESBURG'S GATED COUNTRY CLUB COMMUNITY, ON THE POTOMAC

A community that still feels like a retreat
Four miles east of downtown Leesburg, where Goose Creek meets the Potomac, River Creek was the first gated country club community in the Washington, D.C. area. Six hundred acres, half of it kept undeveloped on purpose, wrapped around an Ault-Clark championship golf course and a clubhouse perched on the river bluffs.
It's close enough to town for a five-minute drive to King Street, and far enough removed that it feels like an oasis. Membership, including golf, tennis, pools, and dining, comes with the address. You don't have to look for the lifestyle, it's right at your fingertips.

MILES TO LEESBURG
Edward's Ferry,
Now the back nine
Long before it was a golf community, this stretch of the Potomac was Edward's Ferry, plantation land dating back to the colonial era, and a strategic river crossing for two centuries after. In August 1814, militia patrolled here to guard against a British advance up the Potomac while the federal government sheltered in Leesburg. Less than fifty years later, Union troops came ashore on this same ground during the Battle of Ball's Bluff. The fairways of today's golf course sit on top of where the skirmish played out.
River Creek broke ground on that history in 1997, a joint venture between the Tower Companies, Montgomery Development, and ClubCorp. Artifacts from the property's 200-plus years are on display at the community's information center. These days, the most contested ground is the back nine and Confluence Park, the eight-acre riverside park where Goose Creek meets the Potomac, with a floating dock, walking paths, and the kind of quiet that's hard to find this close to Leesburg.
