THE STORY
28 Homes Later
When we first met Carter and Bree in August 2025, they knew they were ready to leave Manassas for West Virginia.
What they didn’t know yet was exactly where they would land.
Carter was regularly traveling between Virginia and Pennsylvania for work and family, so location mattered. Their new home needed to make his commute toward D.C. manageable while also keeping them within reach of his parents in Pennsylvania.
And so began the search.
Over the months that followed, we toured 28 homes across the Eastern Panhandle.
Because Carter was often traveling, many of those tours became outings with Bree, her mom, and Bree’s two Chihuahuas. We saw different towns, different styles of homes, and plenty of properties that were *almost* right.
But almost wasn’t the goal.
Then we found 683 Aztec Drive.
The location worked beautifully for the life Carter and Bree were actually living—positioned between the places and people that mattered to them. After 27 other homes, this was the one that finally made sense.
And the timing had a little serendipity of its own.
The sellers were waiting for their new construction home to be completed and needed additional time before moving. For some buyers, that might have been an obstacle. For Carter and Bree, whose lease wasn’t ending until early 2026, it aligned almost perfectly.
We still wanted to understand exactly what they were buying. After the home inspection uncovered several items that needed attention, we negotiated a number of repairs with the sellers so Carter and Bree could move forward with greater clarity about the home they were stepping into.
Then, after 28 homes and months of searching, they finally got to move in.
They’re now officially West Virginians and settling into life in the *Wild and Wonderful*.
But there’s a little postscript to this one that we particularly love.
Somewhere along the way, our relationship with Bree became about more than houses. She brought us homemade empanadas and gave Chloe a tillandsia plant—a gift she still treasures.
Those things may have absolutely nothing to do with real estate.
And yet, to us, they have everything to do with it.
Because after 28 houses, countless drives around the Eastern Panhandle, a mom, two Chihuahuas, one plant, and some very good empanadas, you don’t simply remember the house someone bought.
You remember the people you got to know while helping them find it.
P.S. We will always accept plants and empanadas.

After 27 other homes, this was the one that finally made sense.

MORE
Than a listing
Some clients give us a five-star review. Bree gave us empanadas and a plant Chloe still keeps alive. We'll take that trade every time!
